After a ho-hum start where I was literally saying, "Eh", the book eventually redeemed itself based on the badass mf that is Steele.

Seriously, the first 35% I was cringing. There were a lot of areas that were predictable, but there was just enough of a twist on my surmises to save it. And Steele, damn, I loved him, he is definetly a new favorite book boyfriend. Maybe it's because he reminds me of my husband; gruff exterior who doesn't speak much and everyone thinks is a total asshat, but a total love muffin in private when you really know him. This is an obvious favorite series, but if not for Steele, I'd say it'd be a 3 star book. I kept wanting more oomph, whether it be drama or passion, because it just felt like it was missing something magical.

What did I just read?? Something Fantastic

In The Stillness

Kindle Edition, 486 pages
Published April 9th 2013
by: Andrea Randall

You know the books that take every bit of strength and courage you have to continue, yet you simply cannot put it down because you know reading it will change you? This was In the Stillness by Andrea Randall. Be forewarned if you decide to take it on, there's a lot of taboo topics and you WILL cry; Cutting, PTSD, Resentment, Pain and the inability to deal with life as a wife and mom. Read it though, I don't think you'll regret it.

Saving Dallas (Saving Dallas, #1)

Let me preface this with the fact that I LOVE Alpha Men.. add in some tattoos and a bike, well instant wet panties.

Dallas Knox was a character that I could not stand. You know the kind that if they spontaneously combusted in front of you, you'd actually have to think really really really hard before even wasting a drop of your own spit to potentially save them-- yeah, she was it for me. I had a very hard time connecting to her.
Being five foot four with a body most people only dream of can get you a lot when it comes to men. Not to mention my long, silky brown locks, my perfect teeth, and a smile that would make the devil himself bow down.

Luke Carmical, oh Luke... totally Bad Ass, yet so beautifully tender.
I would move heaven and earth for you Dallas. I will spend the rest of my days making you happy. I have loved before, but never like this.

But their relationship is based on LIES ; She tells him that she was touched while she was sleeping during the break in, when she wasn't, OMISSIONS and a whole lot of CRAZY-- both main characters seem to be a bit bipolar. However with the cliffhanger style ending, you really don't find out the depth of Luke's lies; you are told that he was hired to protect her...but he does say he's a bad person.

Am I going to read the next two books to see if there really is any redemption in Dallas? Yes, because I love a bit of drama and non endings piss me off.

As others have pointed out, there are several areas that desperately need an editor's attention. Own is used when On should be and vice versa. Sense versus Since and Decoy versus Deploy... is it a bad read? No, but it could be so much better.

OMG, Nicole Edwards is now one of my favorite authors. You know the books that you lose yourself in and the whole world could implode and you wouldn't give one minute ounce of care? Yeah, that was Zane for me. I absolutely ♥LOVE♥ the Alluring Indulgence series. Yes, it's intertwined with the Club Destiny series, which are just as great, but these men, damn! Kaleb was smoking hawt, but Zane was an inferno.

As much as I love Gideon, I really really hate how these books in the series do not have an ending. It was fantastic when Eva finally confronted her parents; especially her money hungry mother.

Both Gideon and Eva seem to circle each other a lot in this book, trying to get back to where they were, however at least the co-dependency was toned down quite a bit. Their ex's play major roles, and I don't think I would have minded if Corrine had been successful in her suicide attempt.

3.75-4 stars. I love Kristen Ashley. She has this magical way of making me want to be one of the characters in her books, even if I was just an extra; like a coffee shop customer in the Rock Chick sagas. She is absolutely the Queen of Alpha-Male characterizations and is one of the few authors in which I have read EVERY SINGLE ONE of her books.

This book was not like her other works... it's not that I didn't enjoy it, but where was the real drama other than the Lanie created crap? Even the sex, which is usually off the charts scorching, felt a bit flat (damn, now I have the commercials for Cialis and Viagra running through my head). I know that KA recently signed with a new publisher though, and I hope she remembers her old formula; it wasn't broke and it didn't need to be fixed.
